Himachal prepares for Dharamshala IPL Matches


Shimla: All preparations have been made for the successful conduct of two IPL cricket matches to be held on 16th & 18th April 2010 in Dharamshala, the beautiful hill station of Himachal Pradesh said Mr. Anurag Thakur president Himachal Pradesh cricket associations.

He said that this is for the first time that international level cricket tournaments are being held in newly constructed Dharmshala cricket stadium which has been constructed with 50 crore rupees cost during this year . He told that the cricket stadium set up at height of 4000 ft above mean sea level has been constructed in accordance with international level standards and is highest international level cricket ground to host I P L matches. he told that Ddharmshala cricket stadium has magnificent view in backdrop of mighty Dhauladhar snow peaks which registers average temperature of around 25 degree to 30 degrees Celsius during the peak hours in summer while morning and evening temperature is registered around 20 degree Celsius when the entire India experiences the spell of intense heat waves .

He told that pleasant weather will add to the glory and popularity of the game and will be added attraction for cricket lovers who are coming from plain areas to witness the match Anurag Thakur told that Dharamshala cricket stadium has 20,000/- twenty thousand spectators seating capacity and has state of art facilities, separate practice session, most modern rehabilitation centre ,club lounge, restaurant, bar, banquet hall with 500 capacity and modern media centre with all the facilities .
He told that the capacity has been created to entertain and accommodate around 700 guests in the stadium. He told that Himachal Pradesh chief minister Professor Prem Kumar Dhumal will be chief guest on the opening day of the matches between Kings XI Punjab vs Deccan Chargers on 16th April 2010 while His Holiness Dalia Lama will be chief guests on 18th April during the matches between Chennai Super Kings vs Kings XI Punjab Anurag Thakur told that the sales of ticket has been started and almost half of the tickets have already been sold .He told that HPCA is constructing the residential facilities for the players and officials of the cricket associations and added that few of the accommodations will be ready for use during the coming IPL matches being held .
Anurag said that this cricket stadium has been appreciated by renowned cricket icons like MS Dhoni,Virender Sahwag and other international cricket stars during their visit to Dharamshala..

The Chintpurni Fair

Mata Chintpurni The Chintpurni fair, locally known as ‘Mata Da Mela’(fair of the mother Goddess) is held in village Chintpurni on a spur of the hill range of the same name, about 3 kms. to the west of Bharwain.
